With an interdisciplinary background in research, education and design, Monica aims to guide science communication efforts in the built environment. Monica supports the International Well Building Institute’s™ (IWBI) education initiatives by contributing and managing end-to-end curriculum and product development. Prior to IWBI, Monica completed her PhD in Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts, where she focused on insect biology and population genetics along the urban to rural gradient. It was during her research and coursework that she developed an interest in the built environment. She is excited to be a part of the ‘second wave of sustainability’ and is looking forward to influencing the growth of the WELL community. Before her PhD, Monica received a M.S in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation from the University of Massachusetts, and a bachelor's degree in Biology and Studio Art from Colby College. She is also a LEED Green Associate. Monica practices wellness by teaching spinning and group fitness classes at corporate offices across NYC.
