Xue Ya is the President of IWBI (Asia), overseeing the overall strategic development and business affairs for IWBI in the region. International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI), is a public benefit corporation with a mission to improve human health and well-being through the built environment. IWBI administers the WELL Building Standard® (WELL), the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. The WELL building certification program is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring the performance of building features and other aspects of the built environments that impact the health and well-being of the people in the spaces we create.
An avid believer of environmental sustainability and formidable promoter on well building standard, Xue Ya championed the WELL movement in Asia and is now a recognized leader in WELL building practice across China.
In 2015, following a historical trial of successful efforts marrying U.S. Green Building Standard and Chinese developers, Xue Ya took the leadership to pioneer US-based WELL Standard to China. In her capacity as Head of Asia for IWBI, her work broke ground and led to the birthing of China’s very first WELL registered mix use large-scale project collaborating between IWBI and Sino Ocean Group of China, officially opening a promising market for WELL standard in China. Today, China has evolved to be a leading market for the WELL Building Standard’s global adoption.
