WELL is a performance-based system and every WELL project is verified through on-site testing of building performance.
For WELL v1 projects, GBCI is the sole provider of on-site performance testing services. For WELL v2 projects, these performance tests for various air quality, water quality, lighting and acoustic parameters may be carried out by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) or a WELL Performance Testing Organization that employs GBCI-trained WELL Performance Testing Agents.
The market of approved organizations and trained individuals who can provide on-site performance testing services will continue to grow as the number of WELL projects increase and performance testing becomes a best practice for high-performing buildings around the globe.
WELL Certification fees for WELL projects include fees for GBCI on-site performance testing services. However, WELL v2 projects may alternatively elect to contract directly with an approved WELL Performance Testing Organization to conduct on-site performance testing services for their project. This model inspires a competitive open market of global on-site performance testing service providers.
WELL Performance Verification is the cornerstone of WELL Certification and as a practice, is a distinguishing element of high-performing buildings worldwide. As more people are trained to conduct on-site performance testing, they will simultaneously serve as an extended salesforce while exponentially spreading knowledge about WELL Certification, performance testing as a best practice and the many benefits of WELL.
