WELL concept advisories consist of leading subject matter experts, practitioners and users across the fields of public health, design and building and medical science who have expertise in WELL concepts. WELL concept advisors contribute to the continuous development of the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL™) and help ensure that WELL™ aligns with the latest industry research, meets user need and raises the bar for healthy, high-performing buildings around the world. The 9 WELL concept advisories - Air & Thermal Comfort, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community - align with the ten WELL concepts to be introduced in WELL v2. Advisories include a global representation of advisors with a diversity of expertise.

Each WELL concept advisory is guided by a written statement of purpose that outlines the advisory’s annual scope of work. WELL concept advisors may be asked to advise IWBI on topics that contribute to:

  • New and existing features in WELL

  • Alternative adherence paths, amendments, FAQs or equivalencies for WELL

  • Performance verification protocols for WELL

The application period for 2018-2019 WELL concept advisories is now closed. If you’d like to receive future updates on WELL advisories, please complete an expression of interest form. To stay informed on other WELL news, sign up for our newsletter.

Individuals may apply for up to two WELL concept advisories but may only serve on one at a time.

WELL concept advisors serve one-year terms. WELL concept advisories will convene at least twice in 2018 and no more than quarterly. Concept advisory calls will be scheduled based on inputs of availability from concept advisors. Additionally, from time to time advisors may be called upon as individuals to provide direct feedback to the IWBI Standard Development team.

Advisors consist of leading subject matter experts, WELL users and practitioners with specific knowledge, experience and capability in particular aspects of each WELL concept. Advisors are not required to have prior engagement with IWBI but previous or ongoing engagement with WELL is valuable.

Each WELL concept advisory consists of 10-15 participants and a staff lead from IWBI’s Standard Development team. Advisories include a global representation of advisors with a diversity of expertise.

WELL concept advisory applications are reviewed by IWBI staff. The selection for advisories is dependent on applicant subject matter expertise, experience with WELL and contributions to their respective fields.

WELL concept advisors serve one-year terms. At IWBI’s discretion, advisors may be invited to serve consecutive terms.

The concept advisors are volunteers and no compensation is provided.

Advisors will have the opportunity to actively shape the WELL Building Standard, facilitating the continuous evolution of WELL. Joining a concept advisory will offer members the chance to collaborate directly with top-tier experts within concept fields. Advisors will be recognized by IWBI within the WELL Building Standard and via wellcertified.com.

We’re thrilled to hear that your company is interested in providing market feedback and deeper engagement with WELL. WELL advisories consist of individual advisors. If your company is interested in being involved, we encourage individuals from your team to apply.

Absolutely. IWBI seeks to continually evolve WELL to reflect the most up-to-date scientific and health research and best practices in building design, construction, operations and workplace wellness. We welcome your feedback on WELL. Please submit your comments on our website. We also encourage you to engage with WELL through future opportunities such as events and webcasts.
