Verifying health in real time: How Praveen Kumar Yadav democratizes wellness testing in emerging markets
As Associate Director at Environmental Design Solutions and recipient of the 2025 WELL Emerging Market Award, WELL Performance Testing Agent Praveen Kumar Yadav turns health science into measurable, verified outcomes across air, water, light, and acoustics.
When Praveen Kumar Yadav became a WELL Performance Testing Agent in 2020, he unlocked the tools to address occupant health holistically rather than through fragmented approaches. Heading the testing, commissioning, and verification teams at Environmental Design Solutions, Praveen measures performance metrics across air, light, water, and acoustics to ensure design aspirations deliver real-world health outcomes. Recipient of the 2025 WELL Emerging Market Award, Praveen explores how performance testing builds client trust and drives high-performance, health-centric architecture.
How did you first hear about the WELL PTA designation? What made you interested in it?
I discovered WELL PTA while working on sustainable building projects in India and recognized the credential’s relevance to the growing wellness-focused market. The opportunity to help clients achieve health-optimized buildings while establishing expertise in an emerging credential motivated my pursuit of the accreditation.

What’s one way becoming a WELL PTA has impacted your life and/or career?
It has expanded my consulting scope to include health and wellness as core design parameters, enabling me to deliver higher-value solutions to clients and positioning Environmental Design Solutions as a trusted authority in India’s emerging wellness-focused building market.
What are some things you’ve been able to do (or you plan to do) as a WELL PTA you couldn’t before? Why are those things important to you?
I can now lead comprehensive health assessments across air quality, water, light, and acoustics translating wellness science into actionable design strategies for Indian projects. This matters because it allows me to address occupant health holistically rather than fragmented approaches, creating measurable wellness outcomes that justify investment and differentiate our firm in a competitive market.
Do you have any advice you’d give potential WELL PTA candidates?
Gain hands-on project experience to understand real-world implementation challenges, build relationships within the WELL community early, and embrace the credential as ongoing learning, not a one-time achievement.
What does well-being mean to you? How do you incorporate it into your life and routine?
Well-being is the integration of physical health, mental clarity, and purposeful work for me. It means designing spaces that enhance occupant health while maintaining my own balance through regular exercise, time in nature, and meaningful professional relationships that align with my values.
Is there a specific WELL concept, feature or set of features that have really resonated with you and that you’ve incorporated into your own life?
Daylight and circadian rhythm alignment deeply resonates. I’ve restructured my workspace and morning routine to maximize natural light exposure, which has tangibly improved my sleep quality and energy levels. Understanding how light influences biology transformed it from a “nice-to-have” design feature into a non-negotiable wellness priority that I now advocate for in every project.

What projects do you have planned for the future? How will your WELL AP credential support the project’s success?
My pipeline includes consultancy for several residential and commercial projects where WELL principles will guide equitable health outcomes across all income levels, and a adaptive reuse project converting industrial space into wellness-focused office environments.
